One Direction's Liam Payne's Twitter posts praising Robertson family of A&E's 'Duck Dynasty' cause fan backlash, singer defends himself & slams bloggers
Late last week and then into the weekend, One Direction's Liam Payne was dealing with a very big controversy thanks to a recent post he made on his Twitter account. The "Story of My Life" singer found himself on the receiving end of numerous hateful tweets and comments after he praised the Robertson family of A&E's Duck Dynasty for showing such great "family values." Unfortunately for Liam, he probably forgot about the whole incident involving Robertson family patriarch Phil stating homophobic and racial comments in an interview with GQ Magazine. Although Liam was clearly not supporting these statements, he's been getting plenty of backlash for the tweets. Needless to say, Liam had some explaining to do and used Twitter to both apologize and defend himself.
Here's how this all started:
@williebosshog huge love to you/your family huge respect for your business prosperities and the family values you still all behold. big fan

After Liam posted this on his Twitter account, the social media universe erupted in confused, hateful and damning comments for Liam's support of a family involved in another recent controversy. As you can see from his post, though, Liam is pretty specific with saying what he admires and supports. But he still took to Twitter to defend himself. Here is the series of tweets from Payne (WARNING: He is an angry 20-year-old, so they get kind of explicit at times):
Being a fan of someones show and the way they still hold a family together doesnt mean i am ok with all they say. — Liam Payne (@Real_Liam_Payne) January 18, 2014
