Madison Holleran suicide: UPenn track star jumps to death from Philadelphia parking garage, family/friends mourn as final sunset Instagram photo goes viral
Several reports confirm that Madison Holleran, a promising 19-year-old track star from the University of Pennsylvania, jumped to her death from a Philadelphia parking garage on Friday (January 17). The college freshman's tragic passing comes as a shock to family and friends, who claim that Holleran did not show signs of sadness or depression leading up to her sudden suicide.
Just moments before her death at 7 p.m. on Friday, the popular Ivy League school student posted a stunning image of a sunset from Philly's Rittenhouse Square on Instagram:
It remains unknown why Holleran decided to end her life - she was a talented athlete who won numerous awards as a student at Northern Highlands Regional High School in Allendale, New Jersey (via NY Daily News).
"As our school community mourns the loss of Madison, we extend our love and prayers to the Holleran family as they grieve and we respect their privacy during this extremely difficult time," high school principal Joseph Occhino said in a statement.
