Twitter users don't know who Daft Punk is after 'Random Access Memories' wins Album Of The Year Grammy

Seriously, Internet? Every time I think I have the extent of the web's collective ignorance nailed down, people up and pull something like this. In spite of the fact that Random Access Memories broke records and "Get Lucky" was a legitimate contender for Song Of The Summer 2013, there are folks out there using their Twitter accounts like Google search bars that only deal in profanity and typos.

Let me repeat: THESE PEOPLE DON'T KNOW WHO DAFT PUNK ARE. THIS DAFT PUNK. And they thought that the moments following the robots' Album Of The Year Grammy win were the best time to announce that fact.

This made sense in 2011. I mean "We Used To Wait" wasn't exactly burning up the charts but DP? In 2014?

Some highlights:

It just amazes me that there is a subset of people on Earth who are computer-savvy enough to tweet, culturally invested enough to watch the Grammys and clueless enough to have never heard of Daft Punk. For the record, there's an account called @TheMasterTapes that has been sending a form response to all these people that explains Daft Punk before telling them to do their #Homework.

I'll end this on a real deal Internet Rage two-fer.
