Paul Rudd discusses Edgar Wright's 'Ant-Man' movie

Paul Rudd had repeatedly denied his involvement in Edgar Wright's 2015 Ant-Man movie and dismissed any mention of his name as just a rumor. Well, it turns out he was playing coy as Marvel announced shortly thereafter that Rudd would star in the studio's Phase Three film.

The Anchorman actor will portray Scott Lang, one of the characters who becomes Ant-Man in the original comics. He spoke to Flicks and the City (you can view the video below) and revealed that he is still getting used to the new project.

"Well, it's all just kind of starting, so it's really cool," Rudd said. "I'm very excited about it. I read some comics and seen some [Marvel] movies and I knew Edgar Wright for many years. The whole thing that it's actually happened, that I got the part, is still kind of surreal. It's still sinking in over these last several months."

That last comment is interesting, because it indicates that he was, in fact, not telling the whole truth when reporters pressed him about the Ant-Man rumors.

The interviewer then asked how much comedy Rudd would bring to the part, and the actor responded, "We'll see what Edgar has in mind. We haven't started shooting any of it yet." As for his co-star, Michael Douglas (who plays Hank Pym, the other Ant-Man), Rudd said, "It's a thrill. He's amazing!"

Finally, the interviewer tried to pry a little information out of Rudd and asked how excited he is to be working again with Rashida Jones. The two worked together on I Love You, Man and Jones is rumored for the lead female role in Ant-Man.

"I follow what comes out online and even then I don't quite follow," Rudd said with a grin. "I let those powers that be announce what they want to announce when they announce it. A lot of that stuff you hear it not true."

Given Rudd's previous track record with this movie, we'll hold out hope that he's just playing coy again.

What do you think, Marvel fans? Will we see Jones in the film? What do you think Rudd will bring to the role? Let us know in the comments below.
