Rob Ford Defends Justin Bieber
Canadians who radically disprove commonly held assumptions about Canadians have to stick together, apparently. Somehow still mayor of Toronto Rob Ford defended (former) Canadian Justin Bieber in an appearance on the Washington, DC radio program The Sports Junkies.
"Well, you know what, he's a young guy," Ford said of Bieber. "At 19 years old, I wish I was as successful as he was. He's 19 years old, guys. Think back to when you were 19."
Of course, we all made mistakes at 19. However, the chances are far more likely that we suffered consequences for those mistakes, which is not very likely for the Biebs. He was arrested for DUI, a charge that could put him behind bars for up to six months.
In addition, Bieber is 19 years old. Meaning that the mere act of drinking was against the law. A Joe Schmo Floridian teen would have their license revoked at the very least for anything over a BAC of .02.
So, yes. The Biebs is going to have to deal with some public backlash. But he more than likely won't spend anytime in a Miami-Dade jail like some of his fellow teens.
In addition to his recent arrest for DUI, Bieber was charged with assaulting a limo driver.
