New documentary '12 O'Clock Boys' highlights Baltimore's dirt bike gangs

Take a dive into unchartered waters and explore the world of one of the most praised urban dirt bike groups in the U.S. They go by the name 12 O'Clock Boys and the group is opening up about the fame and tribulations they face in Baltimore in their new self-titled documentary.

The documentary sheds light on the world of dirt biking through the eyes of a thirteen year old boy named Pug. It highlights the thrills and tragedies of dirt biking as these youngsters are often warned by local authorities of their dangerous and illegal activity.

Directed by Lofty Nathan, "12 O'Clock Boys" shows an alternative to giving into detrimental behaviors such as drug dealing and killing that has become synonymous with the city.

In an interview with XXL, Nathan had this to say of his documentary: "I was drawn to their story because I found it mysterious as well as intimidating. However, throughout the process, I better understood that it is an outlet for them. It may not be the right way, but it's their way. When I met Pug I knew immediately that there was something very telling in his character, a young boy whose ultimate goal was to become a 12 O'Clock Boy. Many of the young kids who watch from the sidewalks admire the guys riding those bikes through the streets...but in the sense of safety it comes with a price."

The film premiered in Brooklyn on Wednesday (Jan. 29). Check out the trailer below.
