Philip Seymour Hoffman found dead, Wall Street Journal reports
The Wall Street Journal has reported that forty-six-year-old actor Philip Seymour Hoffman was found dead in his West Village apartment. At the moment, many other news outlets are not reporting the news yet, but coverage is quickly rising. There is always the lingering, hopeful thought if this is an Internet hoax.
A law-enforcement official said he was found at his apartment at 35 Bethune Street and the New York Police Department will be investigating further.
He is an Academy Award winner for his performance in Capote. The actor is also known for many memorable dramatic peformances, from Paul Thomas Anderson's Magnolia and Boogie Nights to The Master.
There is no known cause of death at the moment, though people will begin to speculate about Hoffman's drug use. In recent years, Hoffman relapsed from 23 years being sober from drugs, according to E! News. He had reportedly become addicted to prescription drugs, which led to snorting heroin. However, in June of 2013 E! said it seemed he was on his way to recovery again, post-detox.
More details to come from MStars News as they develop.
Update: The New York Post is reporting a heroin overdose, as cops found Hoffman with a hypodermic needle in his arm inside his bathroom.
