Foo Fighters rock parking lot prior to Super Bowl
For those decrying the lack of rock at the Super Bowl (and the short amount of screen time that RHCP received) you should know that there was plent of guitar music in the general vicinity of East Rutherford, New Jersey this Super Bowl weekend. The Foo Fighters played a Bud Light-sponsored parking lot gig in Manhattan prior to the big game.
They always put us in the parking lot. Did you see Foo Fighters on the Grammys? In the parking lot. But you know what? I like being in the fucking tent in the parking lot with you guys," Grohl joked to the crowd.
Foo Fighters played a range of hits including "Big Me", "All My Life" and "Rope" and even snuck in a few covers. Billboard reports that Grohl and associates riffed on a bluesy cover of the Tom Petty classic "Breakdown."
The band declined to play any new material, with Grohl mentioning that he wanted listeners to go into the new tracks fresh.
"I wish I could play you our whole new record, but I don't wanna do that yet...It's a fuckin' surprise," he said.
