NHL Legend Bill Guerin adds a $500K hockey rink in his backyard
They say money makes the world go round, and sometimes it can make you do crazy things. Well MStars has just learned that NHL hockey legend, Bill Guerin, spent a fortune just to add ice to his backyard.
With the winter Olympics days away, I guess everyone wants a taste of the ice. According to TMZ, Guerin spent a half a million dollars, to build a full-size ice rink in his backyard. The former Penguin star is a 2x-Stanley Cup winner, and currently works as an overseer for the Penguins in player development.
The new rink was installed in the back of his new home in Sewickley, PA which is also a 25 minute commute to the Penguins stadium. The site also reported that Guerin ordered a personal zamboni machine to keep the ice on the new rink smooth.
If you take a look at the photos of the ice playground you will also see a basketball goal hanging over the rink. Looks like Guerin may be inventing a new sport...I guess we know where all the neighborhood kids will be.
