Paul Bettany will reportedly play Vision in 'The Avengers 2: Age of Ultron'
Joss Whedon's superhero team-up sequel, The Avengers: Age of Ultron, already features a wide cast of characters that expands upon the roster from the original movie. Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) are already in the mix, and now a new report reveals that an old face (well, voice, really) could play a new character.
England's Daily Mail reports that Paul Bettany, who previously voiced Tony Stark's (Robert Downey Jr.) artificial intelligence JARVIS in the three Iron Man films and The Avengers, will play Vision, an intelligent android who eventually joins the team.
The site reports that Bettany was spotted at the film's production offices earlier this week to work with make-up artists who applied "various powders and potions on Bettany's pale skin to bring about the Vision's chalk-white complexion." The more popular and recognizable incarnations of Vision are his red and green attire, but Whedon could choose to go with his white version instead.
If true, then this only enhances the widely held theory that it will be Iron Man, not Hank Pym/Ant-Man, who creates Ultron in The Avengers 2. In the comics, Pym is responsible for Ultron's creation, but Marvel has altered canon before and has said they would do so again, so perhaps this is another case of that.
What do you think, Avengers fans? How will Ultron come to life in the comics? Where will Vision fit into all this? Is the movie getting too crowded? Let us know in your thoughts in the comments below.
