Fox bashes 'The Lego Movie' for being anti-capitalist
We were all waiting for it. If a kids' movie has been released, you can practically set your watch by FOX personalities finding fault with it. The latest example comes courtesy of the folks at FOX Business and their target is The LEGO Movie.
There are multiple levels of cognitive dissonance required for this segment to make any freaking sense. Let me break it down for you:
1. You need to believe that a movie made by a major movie studio and largely intended to increase the sales of a line of toys could possibly be anti-capitalist.
2. You need to forget that every businessman mentioned as an example was a bad person. Mr. Potter isn't evil because he's a businessman. He's evil because he lacks any working moral compass and posesses no sense of empathy.
3. While we're on the topic: where does FOX Business get off citing It's A Wonderful Life as an example of businessmen getting a bum rap? George Bailey was the head of the Building & Loan and his entire life was defined by his own selflessness. Leaving aside the fact that Monica Crowley briefly supported Mr. Potter (in jest), how could anyone read the film as anti-business when a single business was responsible for the entire town of Bedford Falls not becoming a slum?
Does anyone actually know what anti-capitalist means anymore? Or is it just a word thrown around by far-right websites and TV shows the way that Upworthy uses "incredible?"
