The How I Met Your Mother spinoff entitled How I Met Your Dad is forging ahead, and the show has found the actress who will take viewers on another adventure toward finding true love.

TVLine reports that Greta Gerwig has earned the starring role of Sally on How I Met Your Dad, which is currently in the works at CBS. Sally, for all intents and purposes, is the Ted Mosby of the group in that she's the main character and narrator. She is a colorful, messy and unpredictable character and the casting info describes her as a "female Peter Pan who has never grown up and has no idea of where she's going in life." She's on the verge of getting divorced from her current husband of one year, Gavin, when the show begins, and she'll turn to her group of friends for advice and support.

Gerwig's recent credits include No Strings Attached, Arthur, Greenberg and Frances Ha (for which she earned a Golden Globe nomination). According to TVLine, Gerwig will also be a producer on How I Met Your Dad and will occasionally write if the show gets picked up for a full order.

The spinoff series comes from HIMYM co-creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, who co-wrote the pilot along with Emily Spivey of Up All Night. The show would shoot in New York should CBS pick it up for a full series order.
