Silver medal Olympic skier Gus Kenworthy is adopting his Sochi stray dogs after Twitter and Facebook photos from 2014 Winter Olympics go viral
Olympic freestyles skier Gus Kenworthy of the United States just won the Silver medal in his event at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics, but the young athlete has been winning over plenty of fans for his Twitter posts involving the stray dogs in Russia. As some of you might know, there are plenty of strays at the Olympics and a terrifying procedure to get rid of them was put in place by the Russian government recently. Not on Kenworthy's watch! The champion skier is adopting the family of pups he posted pictures of on Twitter and bringing them home to the states!
This week, the skier made basically everyone on the Internet swoon by posting photos of a litter of stray puppies he found in Sochi with the following message:
"Spent all afternoon playing with a gang of stray puppies here in Sochi! Looking into finding a way to bring them home with me but also don't want to take them away from their mama because she was being super cute and protective over them. I bought them some food and I'll go visit them again tomorrow"

So after raising awareness for the strays in Sochi, Gus decided to let his followers know how his plan to help out the pups actually paid off:
Also, for the people wondering, I've lined up kennels 4 the pups & made vaccination appointments. Doing all I can to bring them home w/ me!

This was posted right after he won the Silver medal at the events, so it just goes to show that the puppies mean just as much to him as his success!
