'Snake Salvation' star laid to rest Tuesday; snakes used at the funeral service?
MStars has learned that the funeral service for Pastor Jamie Coots will be held in Middlesboro, Kentucky Tuesday. Pastor Coots died from a snakebite Saturday, Feb. 15 while preaching to his congregation. The reality stars son, Cody Coots will be taking over the congregation, and the snake that killed his father will be used again next Saturday in service.
The Snake Salvation star was 42-years-old. Coots along with Pastor Andrew Hamblin, from LaFollette let cameras into their services as they would preach while using snakes. Hamblin recently had to attend court for TWRA citations for using venomous snakes for religious services.
Pastor Coots funeral will be held at Creech Funeral Home from 5p.m. to 8p.m. Tuesday. The pastors burial will be private.
The pastor died Saturday while in his home, after refusing to seek medical attention from a venom bite to his hand, at Full Gospel Tabernacle in Jesus Name.
This is not the first person to die from a snakebite at the Middlesboro church, a woman named Melinda Brown, died after receiving a bite in 1995.
The reality star and pastor was also a school bus driver, for Middlesboro Independent Schools.
Coots leaves behind his wife, two children, one granddaughter, and his father.
