The Walking Dead Season 4 spoilers on Abraham and Rick's relationship

Fans of The Walking Dead on AMC were likely excited, curious and maybe a bit confused when three new characters suddenly popped up at the end of the latest Season 4 episode, "Inmates." Those familiar with the comics know the characters as Abraham (Michael Cudlitz), Eugene (Josh McDermitt) and Rosita (Christian Serratos).

The show has diverted from the comics, sometimes in major ways, during its run, and apparently that will happen again with Abraham when it comes to his relationship with Rick (Andrew Lincoln). The "Mega Buzz" column at TV Guide reports the following:

"In the comics, Abraham is Rick's right-hand man, but the show will go down a different path. 'Some of those stories that join us together have been told already,' Michael Cudlitz tells me. For example, on the TV show Rick has already taken that trip back to the armory with Shane instead of Abraham, as in the graphic novel. 'At that point in the comics, they have an understanding. We're going to handle it differently,' Cudlitz says."

Does this mean there could be tension between Rick and Abraham? Maybe the two are at odds about how to lead the group or what to do next.

In the comics, Eugene claims to have information about the zombie outbreak. Cudlitz told The Hollywood Reporter that, on the show, answers about this trio would come quickly.

"By the next episode, you'll get all the answers to where they're going and why. You know they're headed for Washington but the audience will learn all that in the next episode as to where they're going, why they think they're going there, what information Eugene has and that Abraham and Rosita believe him. There is no subtlety in it. It's this wonderful expositional moment that's literally ripped out of the comics where you meet these people, learn who they are as individuals and what they need from anyone else -- and you better f---ing be on board, because you don't have a choice!"

What do you think, Walking Dead fans? How much will the show stray from the comics here? Let us know in the comments below.
