Fox's new series Gotham, based on the DC Comics character Batman's city in which he fights crime, is picking up a lot of steam with the recent casting of Jada Pinkett Smith. Will Smith's wife is set to portray one of the series' main villains in the origin story, opposite Ben McKenzie who was recently cast in the leading role of James Gordon.

According to Deadline, Smith will portray "Fish Mooney, an imposing, hotheaded and notoriously sadistic gangster boss and nightclub owner with street smarts and almost extra-sensory abilities to read people like an open book who is not one to be crossed."

Are you excited for this casting news? Are you looking forward to seeing Jada Pinkett Smith in the role of a Gotham City villain? Let us know what you think in the comments section below.

So far the Matrix star is the biggest name attached to this highly anticipated series. Donald Logue is set to play Detective Harvey Bullock alongside McKenzie's Gordon to take down Pinkett's Character. A young Bruce Wayne will also be involved in the series, but this character has yet to be cast.

Slashfilm reports:

The cast of the show also includes Robin Lord Taylor as Oswald Cobblepot, who will become the Penguin; Sean Pertwee as Alfred Pennyworth; Zabryna Guevara as Captain Essen; and Erin Richards as Barbara Kean, Gordon's fiancé.

We still have to wait for the big casting news of Bruce Wayne, but what do you think of the cast so far? Clearly Smith will be a draw for viewers, but who else would you like to see on Gotham?
