Bayern Munich Win Champions League Encounter With Arsenal
It started so well for the English team, with plenty of positive attacking plays to start the first five minutes, and it got better when they were awarded a penalty, but that's as good as it got for the Gunners, who missed the spot kick and went on to lose 2-0.
German international, Mesut Ozil, stepped up to take the penalty for his English team, against Bayern and had his poor effort saved. From then on the game appeared an even encounter with Bayern looking slightly more threatening. From there Arjen Robben drifted in to the penalty box, and was brought down by the Arsenal goalkeeper, which resulted in a red card and another penalty, this time for Munich, and again it was missed.
With eleven men against Arsenal's ten, Bayern never looked like losing and controlled the game from then on. Early in the second half Toni Kroos fired Munich in front with a classy, unstoppable finish. The talented midfielder was pivotal in Munich's plan and showed why Arsenal's English rivals Manchester United were so desperate to sign him last month.
Arsenal will need a miracle in Munich for their second match in a few weeks time. The Gunners can gun down Bayern, but they've made the task a lot harder than it needed to be. If they'd list away first there would be a slightly bigger chance of reducing the deficit, but to score several goals without conceding in Bayern would be one of the greatest comebacks ever.
