Superstar Soccer Player Wayne Rooney Signs New Contract at Manchester United
It feels like forever since 28-year-old England international star left Everton Football Club for Manchester United Football Club. Countless of times it's appeared to be the end of his United career, but he, or the club have changed their mind and the star has pushed them to further glory. It seems to of happened again, and this time United need the talented forward more than ever. Wayne Rooney has signed a new five-and-a-half year contract, in which he will earn close to $500,000 a week before tax. This will see his current contract extended by four years, until June 2019, meaning that Rooney should see out the remainder of his best years in a United uniform.
Although Rooney is still a vital player, this deal was vital in showing that United can keep star players happy under David Moyes, even when they're struggling in ways they've not done for years. There has been speculation for a long while that Rooney wouldn't sign, then would, and now he has. It's believed United signing star player Juan Mata recently has been a key influence. That proved to Rooney that United can and will bounce back, signing new quality to help the team improve.
The English star has played in 430 games, scoring 208 goals for the club, and that's a statistic the Red Devils couldn't afford to take lightly. It's rumoured that Rooney has been promised he will become the new club captain, and be involved in all transfer activity, making him the biggest ever United icon, and one they are in desperate need of right now.
The club haven't put out an announcement as of yet, but everybody involved is quietly stating the deal is done. What's next for Rooney, his English national side and his struggling club side Manchester United?
