Super Smash Bros. 3DS and Wii U adds new character from 'Donkey Kong' franchise

The roster for Super Smash Bros. 3DS and Super Smash Bros. Wii U continues to grow, and Nintendo has announced the newest character for the next installment in the franchise. The character hails from the Donkey Kong franchise and has appeared in the Super Smash series in the past.

The character's name is Diddy Kong, the little red cap-wearing buddy of the giant ape who had adventures in games such as Donkey Kong Country and his own titles such as Diddy Kong Racing.

Diddy Kong also debuted in Nintendo's fighting game franchise in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, the last installment in the series that came out for the Wii back in 2008.

-       Little Mac

-       Lucario

-       Diddy Kong

Nintendo announced both Super Smash Bros. Wii U and Super Smash Bros. 3DS at E3 2011. The company has yet to announce a release date, but both games are scheduled for release in 2014.
