It's been a difficult season for Manchester United and their new manager, David Moyes, but perhaps things are finally on the up. They have signed star player Wayne Rooney to a new four-year contract extension and won away at Crystal Palace in comfortable fashion, with the game finishing 2-0. United have been desperate to find a reason to be happy and something to spark some sort of consistent run, perhaps this news and the good result that followed can be just that for the struggling franchise.

There were worries within the United fan base as the game stayed 0-0 till half time, but they were able to play as well, but with a fierce threat at the end of their play in the second half. This led to a penalty which Robin Van Persie scored, and Wayne Rooney added a goal to celebrate his new contract with, too. The dynamic duo have been injured on and off this season, so it's important for United to keep them both fit and firing on all cylinders.

The signing of Juan Mata seems to of been a bit of a catalyst also, with Rooney's new contract being agreed soon after and the mood in the camp seeming a lot better than it previously had been. United are in a fight till the finish to finish fourth, but they face the awkward task of disposing of their arch rivals Liverpool, if they are to complete their objective. None the less it will still be a disappointment, as they were aiming to win yet another title, or at least put up a fight to keep it, but they've fallen far short of that.
