The Lego Movie sequel set for May of 2017
The LEGO Movie not only managed to be as awesome as its de facto theme song, but continues to haul in a boatload of cash in a three-week long domination of the box office. That's a perfect recipe for a sequel and the folks at Warner are already pre-heating the oven. The movie studio just announced plans for a LEGO sequel to hit theaters on May 26, 2017.
The painstakingly animated stop-motion hit has earned $183 million at the US box office alone. The film studio is eyeing Jared Stern and Michele Morgan for a script, though there's no word on what they want the film to be about or whether the film's impressive array voice talent will return.
Enjoy it now before FOX finds a way to spin a mega-studio optioning a sequel based around a toy line as "anti-capitalist."
