Is Floyd Mayweather Ducking Amir Khan?

Floyd Mayweather has been there and done it all, but it seems he still likes to be the controversial figure that helped him rise to prominence. He's beaten almost everybody out there, and with a bout against Manny Pacquiao still unlikely, he was trying to find a new opponent. British Amir Khan, who's had his own ups and downs, but has shown immense promise, has made it known for a long while that he wants to take Mayweather on. As 2013 came to a close the two camps began talking and it appeared the pair were set for a 2014 showdown, but as always with Mayweather, his on and off again tactics intervened.

Khan had cancelled and rejected fights in order to set this up. With their careers short and sweet, one way to anger a fellow professional is to hold their career back in this manner. Mayweather appeared to be stuck between his two main opponent choices, Amir Khan or Marcos Maidana, and he created a fan poll to help make the decision. There was a clear winner, with Khan the fans favourite to fight 'Money Mayweather', but strangely the twisted mind of Floyd's decided to opt for Maidana after all, angering the fans and Khan's camp in the process.

Khan has taken his anger out via Twitter, and if he needed any further motivation for a future bout against Mayweather, he certainly has it. With Mayweather playing these games, one has to ask, is he the one ducking Manny Pacquiao, and indeed now Amir Khan? Why else would the confident boxer make it near impossible to face these two opponents?
