'HIMYM' Spinoff 'How I Met Your Dad' casts Drew Tarver, and could Eliza Dushku join the show?
The How I Met Your Mother spinoff entitled How I Met Your Dad has added another member to its ranks, as Drew Tarver has joined the cast.
EW.com reports that Tarver will play Todd, the best friend and roommate of Sally (Greta Gerwig), who is married to her brother. According to the site, Tarver was discovered at a CBS Diversity Showcase in January and signed a CBS Talent Holding Deal before his casting in How I Met Your Dad. He had previous stints on Animal Practice and Newsreaders.
In other news, actress Eliza Dushku teased her potential involvement in the How I Met Your Mother spinoff when she tweeted the following on Feb. 20.
"#Reading the pilot, folks. No announcement, just a first date- perhaps this weekend. #HowIMetYourDad. It IS kinda #badass #justsayin"
But whom could she play? Here are the character descriptions for the spinoff:
First up, we have Sally, the new Ted Mosby character. She is a colorful, messy and unpredictable character and the casting info describes her as a "female Peter Pan who has never grown up and has no idea of where she's going in life." She's on the verge of getting divorced from her current husband of one year, Gavin, when the show begins, and she'll turn to her group of friends for advice and support.
First on that list of friends is Juliet, who sounds like the Barney of the group. She is a "sexy, flamboyant, energetic party-girl BFF," according to TVLine. She runs her own successful fashion blog and is happy to know Sally is breaking up with Gavin, whom she finds boring.
Danny is Sally's gay older brother and an overachieving brother with a Type A personality. The two have little in common but are very close. Sally moves in with Danny after the divorce, which could strain their relationship.
But Danny's husband, Todd, is warm and outgoing and one of Sally's best friends from college. He is thrilled to have Sally in their home. (Perhaps this is the Lily and Marshall couple?)
Frank (Robin?) is the head of IT for Julie's blog and a hot nerd. He has true feelings for Sally but they are not returned, at least at the start of the show.
And then we have the Narrator, aka Future Sally, who is telling the story to her children.
