Could Former Arsenal Striker Emmanuel Adebayor Fire Rivals to Glory Instead?

Emmanuel Adebayor is without a doubt one of football's most controversial characters, but as proven throughout his Premier League career, he knows how to score and he is one of the deadliest forwards playing today. On Tuesday night he helped Tottenham Hotspurs pull off a miracle in beating Dnipro in the Europe League.

Former boss Andre Villas-Boas had refused to use Adebayor, making it seem like he'd lost his way and was no longer in possession of the required quality, but it appears it was his worst mistake while managing the club. Since new boss, Tim Sherwood, has been in charge, Adebayor has found his way back in the starting eleven for Spurs, and he looks set to fire them to glory.

The rewards for Sherwood have been clear in the fact that Adebayor has scored 11 goals in 15 games, making their London rivals Arsenal cry in despair. Arsenal had his services a few years back, but he has since moved on to a few new clubs, before finding his feet at rival club Tottenham, but it's now the Gunners realize how much they could do with a forward in Adebayor's mould. They have a limited amount of attacking options, and somebody of this stature would be the difference in them winning the league this season.

He proved he is still an elite player in the Dnipro tie when Spurs needed 3 to progress, with little time remaining, but Adebayor scored two in four minutes, as Spurs clawed their way back in to contention. The fight displayed by Adebayor is something that Arsenal, Dnipro and many other teams are lacking, and Spurs are lucky to have him.

Spurs are now in contention to win the Europa League, and they could finish fourth, in what would be a terrific season for the club. If they'd kept Villas-Boas, one can wonder what would've happened, but then again, if Arsenal had kept Adebayor, perhaps we'd be looking at the Arsenal players while they lift the Premier League trophy this coming May.
