Mary J Blige finally opened up about the Burger King commercial incident at Hot 97's Angie Martinez Show Wednesday (6/27).

"It was a mistake when you look at it at the end of the day, because people look at it as a mistake, but I did it as something that wouldn't come out like that."

In the Burger King commercial leaked online back in April, the R&B star sang about the ingredients of the fried chicken wrap on her song "Don't Mind." The ads brought an immediate racism backlash widely.

"I want to apologize to everyone that was offended or thought that I would do something so disrespectful to our culture. I would never do anything like that purposefully. I thought I was doing something right. So forgive me, if that hurts you," the singer explained to Hot 97.

The Rock of Ages star said the negative reaction hurt her feelings and crushed her. She also dismissed the rumors saying that $2 million was paid to put her on the spot. "It wasn't a money thing. It was about a branding opportunity."
