Is John Mayer already moving on from his former relationship with "Dark Horse" beauty, Katy Perry?

On Saturday (March 1), the infamous Hollywood playboy was spotted celebrating his newly single status at a few pre-Oscar Awards parties in LA. And he wasn't alone.

According to the infamous gossip webloid HollywoodLife.com, a stunning "mystery" brunette was glued to Mayer's side the entire evening. The two looked very cozy and flirtatious while partying together West Hollywood's Sunset Tower Hotel.

Well, that was fast! Reports of Mayer's break-up with Perry just hit the web last week.

Both "Who You Love" singers are taking their highly-publicized split in stride. Maybe because there's still a chance they'll get back together in the future?

An alleged insider tells HollywoodLife, "The breakup is real but it may not be permanent. But the one thing that happened was that John was interested in marrying Katy and wanted to propose, but she didn't want to take that plunge yet."

After Perry's divorce from actor Russell Brand, she was scared to take things too fast (although her feelings for Mayer are still deep and genuine):

"She realized that she really loved John but the commitment of marriage scared her because she failed at it the first time. She wants to live her life less seriously right now," the source reveals.
