WATCH: 'Batman: Arkham Knight' announcement trailer for official final title in 'Arkham' video game series

Earlier today, we reported on the leaked title of the new Batman video game in the Arkham series: Batman: Arkham Knight. Shortly after this became public knowledge, developers Rocksteady made it official and released a great announcement trailer for the upcoming game. Arkham Knight will be released late in 2014.

Here is the official synopsis that accompanied this release trailer:

In the explosive finale to the Arkham series, Batman faces the ultimate threat against the city he is sworn to protect. The Scarecrow returns to unite an impressive roster of super villains, including Penguin, Two-Face and Harley Quinn, to destroy The Dark Knight forever. Batman: Arkham Knight introduces Rocksteady's uniquely designed version of the Batmobile, which is drivable for the first time in the franchise. The addition of this legendary vehicle, combined with the acclaimed gameplay of the Batman Arkham series, offers gamers the ultimate and complete Batman experience as they tear through the streets and soar across the skyline of the entirety of Gotham City.

According to reports, this new title takes place a year after Arkham City and will feature revamped next-gen graphics, a much-expanded open world Gotham and the ability to drive a version of the Batmobile.
