Manchester United's Nemanja Vidic Agrees Deal to Join Serie A Inter Milan
Nemanja Vidic has long been apart of Manchester United's defense, but with his contract ending this summer and United struggling he announced a few weeks ago that he would leave, but only to an overseas team. Inter Milan appeared to be the front runner and the club have announced they have secured his signature.
With Serie A a defensive first league it comes as no surprise. United will miss their captain, but can he be replaced? The Serbian international has played 204 times for the Red Devils, but he has also missed 104 games during that time. Vidic is known for his injury stricken past, and his tendency to get sent off, so although consistent when playing, would United be better equipped with a player who steps out on the field more often? United will indeed miss him, but they are in need of new players, and this may force their hand in the transfer market.
Vidic will be an instant upgrade for Milan, and United can use his departure as a chance to rebuild their team and their finances, so it's a good deal all around. Manchester United have already hinted that they will heavily invest in David Moyes' plans to rebuild the side, and with glaring gaps such as central defense, it appears United will indeed need the investment, but can any amount of money instantly equal or better what Vidic brought to United?
Will Vidic make Milan a force once again, and can United replace him or will he be missed for a long time to come?
