Scandal Season 3 Spoilers: Did Mellie cheat on Fitz with Andrew?
ABC's Scandal introduced the character of Andrew (Jon Tenney), who served as Fitz's (Tony Goldwyn) lieutenant governor in California and now as his vice presidential running mate in the primary, in the latest episode of the show. In talking with Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington), fans learned that Andrew was a bit of a playboy because he had a love that got away.
It wasn't until the end of the episode, of course, that we found that love was none other than Mellie (Bellamy Young), the First Lady of the United States and Fitz's wife. This brought up plenty of questions for fans. Did they actually date, or was it just a crush? Were they in love? Was it just a fling? Did Mellie cheat on Fitz, or did her relationship with Andrew predate that?
This week's "Mega Buzz" column at TV Guide offers a bit of clarity on the matter during its recommendation for what to watch this week."
"If you thought the twist at the end of last week was intense, just wait until you hear Andrew and Mellie's backstory. Their relationship was more than just a simple crush. It was far more, ahem, scandalous."
This isn't much of a surprise given the nature of the show, but this nugget of information indicates that something secretive was going on between the two, which could ultimately mean that Mellie was cheating on the eventual President of the United States.
