Greta Gerwig offers details on 'How I Met Your Mother' spinoff 'How I Met Your Dad'
The How I Met Your Mother spinoff How I Met Your Dad is forging ahead, and star Greta Gerwig will take over the Ted Mosby role of Sally for the new series. And it's a role that Gerwig takes quite seriously, as she revealed to E! Online that she is "terrified."
Gerwig spoke to E! at the Vanity Fair Oscars party and revealed that she had spoken to the HIMYM cast, which supported her and the new show.
"They're so nice! I went and I hung out with all the cast and they were like, 'If you can be part of this world, it's crazy fun,'" she said. "They told me they believed in me, and it was really sweet."
She's also expressed that she knows plenty about HIMYM because she's a fan just like the rest of us. "I've been a fan of this show since really early on," Gerwig said. "I've seen every episode."
Gerwig also has a major role behind the scenes of How I Met Your Dad as a writer and co-executive producer with co-creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas.
"I contributed a lot into the pilot, and I'll be in the writers room staring June 1 if they pick it up," she said. "I shoot the pilot in like two weeks and then hopefully it becomes a real show."
As for what fans can expect from the new show, Gerwig said it would honor HIMYM and its legacy.
"It's funny. It shares the heart and soul with the original show, so it has the sweetness and the funniness," she said.
