Is Donald 'Childish Gambino' Glover coming back to NBC's 'Community'?
Donald Glover next week is participating in the SXSW event "Hackathon" as his rap moniker Childish Gambino and the artist asked fans to sign up for updates via his Twitter account. He provided a link for his "The Deep Web Tour" official website to sign up for these updates, and when one does you receive an e-mail from Glover that might have revealed the future of his NBC series Community that he departed from last year.
After signing up through his tour website, fans get a confirmation e-mail that reads:
"Hey fans, Childish Gambino here. I really hope you are excited for this hackathon. More information coming soon.
p.s. I am returning to Community, because the Internet.
Signed,
Gambino "[SIC]
This might seem like a huge reveal for the future of Troy on Community, but it could also be a joke or something of the sort. Who knows what Glover really meant by this, but having him return to the series would be pretty incredible for fans.
When Glover's departure from the popular series became common knowledge, his co-stars reacted in interviews. Not to focus on the sadness of Glover's exit, star Danny Pudi shared his feelings on Troy's last episodes.
"This [departure] is sad because a large part of the show and the experience for me has been this Troy/Abed relationship, and even more so it's been Donald and Danny hanging out," Pudi said. "But I'm excited for him because I know he's got a lot of things to pursue. The nice thing about [Donald's final episode] is that the writers did a really good job of doing justice to both Troy and Troy and Abed."
