Rapper Lil Boosie is probably singing, "Wipe Me Down" and running through the prison gates this morning, as he gets patted down for the last time and walks out of jail a free man.
ABC News reports that the rapper has been released from the Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola. The 31-year-old rapper, whose real name is Torrence Hatch became a free man just after 7 p.m. Wednesday evening, according to Warden Burl Cain.
Lil Boosie was serving 8 years behind bars on drug charges. Cain revealed that the rapper will remain on supervised parole until 2018.
The 31-year-old was sent to prison in 2009, after pleading guilty to a third-offense marijuana possession charge. Hatch also faced multiple accusations, including a highly publicized murder trial in the 2009 death of Terry Boyd. Lil Boosie was acquitted of first-degree murder in Boyd's killing in May of 2012.
Cain stated that the time and date of the rapper's release was not made public "just to keep everything calm."
Fans of the rapper have rejoiced Thursday morning by taking social media by storm.
