WATCH: 'The Following' star Kevin Bacon explains the 80s to millennials in funny viral video
Celebrities are known for raising awareness about issues that they are passionate about and believe in. So when Kevin Bacon was offered a chance to do this, he chose something that he was incredibly involved in - something he holds dear in his heart. In a new viral video, Kevin Bacon talks to Millennials about '80s awareness.
These days, the younger generation is more worried about iPhones, Twitter, Instagram, Tinder and other distracting technological advances. But what if someone of importance - say, an actor - were to tell you that things weren't always so grand. Life wasn't always at the tips of your fingers and feet were not always so loose.
Bacon helped out one of these problems, but wants today's young Millennials to know of the hardships that were present in the 1980s.
"All of you guys born after 1985 have no idea how hard life was," Bacon says to the camera. "If I was too shy to ask a girl out, there was no 'OKTwinder'. I went to the White Pages ... and called her house."
He added: "And let me tell you, when she turns down your invitation to Sbarro's you can't just swipe away the hurt."
"I saw you tweeted an article about Russia," he said with a chuckle. "You think Russia's a threat now? Let me tell you about a little thing called The Cold War. They had nukes pointed at us for twenty years."
The actor eventually gets fed up with everyone's attention pants and walks out of the building, running into a line of young people. He exclaims, "You people will never know the comfort of parachute pants!"
