'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' star Terry Crews wants to star in Marvel's 'Luke Cage' Netflix original series [VIDEO]
Former NFL star and current comedic actor Terry Crews has officially thrown his hat back into the race for the role of Luke Cage in the upcoming Netflix original series from Marvel. Though the actor is 45-ears-old, his muscular physique has put him high on the ideal stars in the minds of fans and now he's decided to voice his opinions.
When the Netflix original Marvel shows were announced last year, Crews' name was mixed into rumors surrounding the Luke Cage project and he wasn't too pleased. At the time, he decided to take his name out of the running because it seemed very silly to him that there was a debate over a series that hadn't been greenlit yet.
"It was people trying to pit people against each other," he said. "Idris [Elba] versus Michael Jai [White] and I'm like, 'Wait a minute, this is not even greenlit! Can we talk to Marvel? Why are you talking to me? Don't put me against my homeboy for a movie that's not existing.' I said, 'Take me out!'"
But it looks like the former NFL star has changed his mind and is making a strong claim for his casting.
"I heard [it's greenlit] but I haven't gotten any calls," he told Collider. "I've been hearing stuff like, 'oh you're too old,' and I'm like, 'Man do my workout 20 years ago and we'll talk about who's too old'. Like I said, anything can happen, I never rule anything out. I'm game. There are no rules. What's up, Marvel? I'm right here, baby. I ain't goin' nowhere. You know where I live!"
