Arsenal lose to Munich
Arsenal knew they had a tough task to beat Bayern Munich, but the club seen just how hard it would be when their Uefa Champions League dreams came to a crashing end. The Gunners lost 2-0 in the home fixture and needed to recover from this defeat in Munich. With Munich the defending champions and at home, Arsenal knew it'd be tough to progress and fell short with a 1-1 draw, resulting in a 3-1 defeat overall.
Arsenal were full of optimism as they chased a treble of trophies, but they've seen their premier League hopes fade and their Champions League hopes end, but they are hopeful they can win the FA Cup, with only 3 weaker opponents in their way of success. The club has made progress, but they'll be disheartened at the way their form has fizzled out, showing they have not learned from previous their seasons.
If Arsenal are to build on this improvement team, it's imperative they take the advice they've been ignoring for so long, and strengthen their squad and its depth. Mesut Ozil was a sign of things to come, but it's clear the Gunners need more than the German star if they are to fulfil the ambitions their franchise carries. Ozil has been in miserable form lately, and it's backed up the claim that Arsenal are in need of depth. Without the injuries they've endured, who knows how far they could have gone?
Arsene Wenger has built an enormous legacy at Arsenal, but has he taken his club as far as he can? Should the club pursue a new manager to help their pursuit of Champions League glory?
