Will Robin Van Persie stay at Manchester United?

A little while ago all seemed well for Manchester United. Sir Alex Ferguson was in charge, they signed Robin Van Persie from Premier League rivals Arsenal, and they then won the 2012/13 Premier League, but Sir Alex announced his retirement and things started to fall apart. Robin has seemed far from happy as United have slumped in every competition his season, and there was rumours he wanted to leave as soon as possible. In a recent interview with the club he's said he's more than happy at Old Trafford.

The Holland international is contracted until 2016 and in a recent interview with the club he dismissed the reports that he didn't like certain team-mates and staff members. Robin explained how he's happy saying "I don't mind if my performances get dissected and people criticise what I've done on the pitch," van Persie said. "They can talk about my game 24/7 for all I care... and a lot of those opinions and criticisms may actually be right. So I don't mind that."

There have been many looking to cause trouble and suggest that he was desperate to leave, but Robin explained it's not true as he continued "What I need to address are the situations when people are taking it upon themselves to think for me, make assumptions, or interpret things as if they are me. Last time I checked my head was still attached to my body, so I'm the only one who knows exactly what I'm feeling and that is not what I or the fans have been reading."

For the fans wondering if their star striker is happy and ready to stay, apparently he is. He opened up saying "The truth is I'm very happy here at this club. I signed for four years and I'd be delighted to stay even longer, beyond the next two years I have left on my contract. This is how I feel, although it's not what has been suggested in the media."

So, David Moyes has had his criticism this season, but he has convinced Wayne Rooney to stay, lured Juan Mata to the club, kept Van Persie happy and seems in pole position to sign German international Toni Kroos from Bayern Munich. It seems things may get better for United after all.
