Manchester City had lost their previous two and knew a third straight loss would prove detrimental to their season. An early away trip to Hull City was their fixture and it was an eventful start to the weekend's action. Manchester City knew they'd have to win, or face a massive backlash from losing three of their season's biggest games in a row.

Captain Vincent Kompany was red carded early on, meaning City would have to find a way to win away from home with one less player. The sending off was another huge blow and heir star defender will now face a suspension. Despite many dramatic moments City were able to grab a much needed 2-0 victory to keep their title hopes alive. How will City cope without Kompany?

A big talking point arrived when Hull City's George Boyd dived, trying to con the referee in to awarding his team a penalty. The referee failed to fall for this and City goalkeeper Joe Hart reacted angrily, which resulted in another shocking moment when Boyd spat in Hart's face. What action will the football authorities take on the Hull City man?

Can Manchester City win the Premier League, or will it add to the growing list of first season failures suffered by Manuel Pellegrini? Manchester City were talking about winning four trophies this season, and they've now won one, but the Premier League looks a tall order, can they they use this win to fire them back in to contention, or will they open their massive cheque book once again this summer?
