Throughout last week's episode of The Following entitled "The Messenger," we slowly realized that Joe Carroll has a plan brewing in his mind. He's assured Emma of this and will most likely act soon. Will we see his plan come to fruition in tonight's episode "Unmasked"?

Still dealing with living in a strange cult, Joe and his girls are not exactly happy. Even when Micah officially welcomes his new members to the group, Emma is a bit shaky on the group. Joe assures her that he will start making his own moves to ensure their safety and future, while Mandy is getting a bit closer with at least one cult member.

We soon find out that Micah wants to start killing people in order to "save souls." He asks Joe for his help on this and reveals that he wants the same celebrity status as Joe, saying that he wants a book to be written about him. Micah's relationship with Joe is clearly growing, which doesn't sit well with Julia.

Joe ends up instructing Micah to take care of the small group of cult members that were on the fence with his teachings. He kills them, thus Micah's want for killing and Joe's apparent plan.

Meanwhile, Ryan gets the full backing of FBI Director Tom Franklin. Basically he'll continue his work but has the resources of the FBI in order to make sure the mole doesn't mess up finding Joe. He won't let the grieving Weston on-board just yet, but enlists Max once again to run the home base operations.

The FBI helps him find out that Joe's old mentor, Dr. Arthur Strauss, was involved with faking the death of Carroll. Hardy tracks him down but the annoying writer, Carrie Cooke, stops by Strauss' place as well leading to plenty of complications for Ryan.

He tries to help Cooke, but is subdued by Strauss' new mentee Cole. This leads to a flashback of Hardy and Cooke's past, because Ryan is tied up in Strauss' basement looking at Carrie on an operating table. Everything's looking pretty terrible, but luckily Weston and Max show up to save the day.

What does all of this mean for tonight's episode? What will be revealed in "Unmasked"? Check out this sneak-peek clip to get a hint before The Following airs tonight!
