The "Whip My Hair" singer Willow Smith, daughter to Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, just released a new music video for the song "I Am Me". This new song comes off as more mature and serious as it addresses her individuality and freedom.

The video premiered on Sunday July 1st at the 2012 BET Awards, and features Smith dressed in skinny blue jeans and an oversized orange button up shirt. Scenes were shot in New York City where Smith is seen with a skateboard and portable keyboard.

Smith sings, ""People don't like the way I dress, or where I'm at. I dye my hair and it's not just vanity," with reference"I am me, I am free. That's all I can be."

At the young age of 11, Smith sings about being comfortable in one's own skin, giving advice for people to simply be themselves without having to gain validation from others.

“Express myself cause it’s my liberty / I’ve been lookin’ / Your validation is just not that important to me.”

The video ends with spoken words "You have to be yourself. Be real, Be honest. Cause ain't nobody got time for that. They really don't."
