How I Met Your Mother series finale made Cristin Milioti cry
The series finale of How I Met Your Mother is just two weeks away, and the show began to say goodbye this week with the ending of the episode entitled "Gary Blauman." Of course, fans are still eagerly anticipating the finale, though they do so cautiously thanks to the widespread theory that The Mother (Cristin Milioti) is dead or dying in 2030.
The "Spoiler Chat" column at E! Online caught up with Milioti to ask about the series finale, and the actress revealed her emotional response to the show's ending.
"William: I know you have How I Met Your Mother secrets-spill them now!
Ahh, you caught us! We just chatted with the flawless Cristin Milioti about HIMYM's highly anticipated series finale and now we're even more excited/terrified/nervous/worried to watch the final episode. 'I cried,' Milioti revealed when asked about wrapping the final episode. 'It was so amazing to see this group of people and this thing that has been their lives for nine years. It was amazing to be apart of it and I'm very sad and I didn't want it to end. I could've gone another two years.'"
In related news, the cast (minus Jason Segel, who had a schedule conflict thanks to a film), creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas and director Pam Fryman appeared at the annual PaleyFest on Saturday night to help bid goodbye to the show.
Wayne Brady, who plays Barney's brother James, moderated the event and started by asking about the widely held theory that The Mother (Cristin Milioti) has died, which is why Ted is telling this story to his children. Bays and Thomas remained mostly silent on that issue, and Bays said, "We're wildly excited about the finale and it's great...but we can't say anything," according to a report from IGN.
Thomas added HIMYM was "really strange for a sitcom on Mondays" and that they wanted to keep the show's secrets until the end. "Stay tuned for two weeks and we'll see," he said.
The creators also said that the final scene filmed for HIMYM (though this is not necessarily the final scene in the series) is Ted and The Mother meeting at the train station. The panel also revealed that some of this material was part of Milioti's audition to play the character a year ago.
