'Jurassic World' will feature this returning 'Jurassic Park' character
Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow recently revealed that a certain character from the original Jurassic Park film will be appearing in his 2015 sequel, which stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. Speculation around returning characters has been growing over the last few months with hopes that either Sam Neill or Jeff Goldblum would come back to the movie franchise. So who is returning for this new sequel?
"This hasn't been announced yet, but BD Wong will be returning as Dr. Henry Wu," Trevorrow said in an interview with IGN. "He had a much larger role in the original novel, he was the engineer of this breakthrough in de-extinction. He spent two decades living in Hammond's shadow, underappreciated. We think there's more to his story."
So you might remember this character as the scientist that was showcasing the hatching of the dinosaur egg to Dr. Grant in the first film, but he wasn't exactly showcased that much. Though the director's comments above make it pretty clear that Wong's role is much more involved this time around.
What do you think about this returning character?
Trevorrow also spoke about the other rumors surrounding Goldblum and Neill.
"I know a lot of fans want to see the original characters back," he said. "They're iconic. But I respect those actors too much to shoehorn them into this story for my own sentimental reasons. Jurassic Park isn't about the bad luck of three people who keep getting thrown into the same situation. The only reason they'd go back to that island is if the screenwriters contrived a reason for them to go."
