In November 2013, Arsenio Hall asked RZA if an anniversary album would be released and he teased:
"Today (Nov. 13) is the day that Ol' Dirty Bastard passed away," RZA said. "The thing is he can't be here. I could be here. Raekwon could be here, Method Man could be here. So I just thought that we all should be there, and I know Raekwon is gonna be there. I have nothing but brotherly love for him, but let's put some of this business to the side and let's go make some music."
