Tottenham Hotspurs bounce back to beat Southampton
Tim Sherwood's inconsistent Tottenham Hotspurs have been in strange form lately, looking unlikely to win many of their games. Southampton's first half domination looked like it would add yet more misery on Sherwood's men, but Spurs pulled themselves back from two goals down, to grab a well deserved 3-2 victory.
England's World Cup hopefuls Jay Rodriguez and Adam Lallana scored to give the Saints a 2-0 lead, but Christian Eriksen scored twice to level the score, with Gylfi Sigurdsson scoring a late long-distance winner. The pressure has been raising for Sherwood, with each and every loss suffered, but this comeback appears to be a turning point, and one that might save his job, or at least give him until the end of the season.
Spurs were knocked out of the Europa League on Thursday, and fans were worried they were going to make it four losses and one draw in their last 5 matches in all competitions, but Sherwood's men were able to step up to the plate when it really mattered. Now Spurs are aiming to qualify for the Champions League, but they face an almighty challenge to do so, and may have to settle for the consolation prize of a Europa League place.
Sherwood had recently said his players lacked character, and it seems to of inspired them, as they showed an impressive amount of character to bounce back in what was an unlikely comeback. Can Sherwood's men finish the season in style, or is this as good as it gets for them?
