'Last Comic Standing' To Return To NBC, New Format & New Judges
Former NBC stalwart "Last Comic Standing" will be returning to NBC this summer - the network hopes to reinvigorate its lineup to revamp the show.
The show will be returning with some major changes to boot, as the competition will now be done in the vein of an "American Idol" style type of elimination.
According to EW.com, the show will open with invitation auditions. A pool of 100 comics will be whittled down to 20; those contestants will compete in semifinal rounds. The Top 10 will move into "challenge rounds," which will test the competitors' "sketch, improv, and stand-up skills, as well as their ability to work both alone and in teams."
NBC is also adding a slew of well known comedians and celebs as judges, including Roseanne Barr and Keenen Ivory Wayans along with "Curb Your Enthusiasm" star J.B Smooth taking over the reigns as host .
