Manchester United love nothing more than winning trophies, and beating their bitter city rivals Manchester City. Since they've had a torrid time this season, and it looks unlikely they'll be winning a trophy any time soon, this encounter with their blue rivals was their chance for redemption, but sadly they never got going as they fell to a 3-0 home defeat.

Eden Dzeko scored within 43 seconds to ensure Samir Nasri's post-hitting shot didn't go to waste, and from then on United looked stunned, and seemed unaware of how to turn the game in their favour. In the second half Nasri became the provider once again as he whipped a corner in, which Dzeko volleyed in. Dzeko was the difference maker, and it was clear United missed there difference maker, Robin Van Persie, who's currently out injured.

United only clear chances came from a Juan Mata strike, which flew over, and a Danny Welbeck flick, which Joe Hart saved with ease. United looked better than they did in their 3-0 defeat to Liverpool, but ultimately the fate was the same. Yaya Toure ensured United would regret their missed chances as he smashed home a third, and final blow, for United.

City are now three points away from leaders Chelsea, while Manchester United are waiting for the season to end, so they can begin to rebuild, and come again next season. Can Manchester United ever reach City's height again, or are they destined to sit in their shadow for years to come?
