Jordan Henderson and Liverpool take on Sunderland, look to win Premier League title
We've seen it time and time again, a player declares his love for one sports team, and eventually moves elsewhere and the time comes, that they must face their former, beloved side. Jordan Henderson will do exactly that tonight as his in-form Liverpool side take on Sunderland, his former team, and boyhood club. Liverpool are hoping to extend their unbeaten run, and continue their title challenge.
When discussing his move to Liverpool he told Liverpoolfc.com "At first it was a little bit strange because I was at Sunderland from when I was young," and he then explained his newly found love of Liverpool, saying "But I've been at Liverpool for a few years now and I feel like it is sort of like home for me, so it doesn't really matter who me or the team play against - I just want to win every game."
It's clear Henderson is now in love with the red of Liverpool, rather than the red and white of Sunderland, and although his former side are fighting relegation, he has his own priorities to consider. Liverpool are fighting to grab their first Premier League title (since it was renamed), and the star would love nothing more than to lift the title and book his place on the plane to Brazil for England. So it seems he will be out to hurt his former side in tonight's encounter.
Liverpool will be hopeful their superb strike pairing of Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge will be enough to not only fire them to victory tonight, but to Premier League glory this May. With Henderson playing the way he is, and the deadly-duo up front, it'd be foolish for anyone to rule the Reds out of the title race.
