Lesbian dating app Dattch hopes to be the next Tinder, Grinder

Dating apps were originally looked down upon by the masses, but these days it seems like you can't talk to a young single person that doesn't bring up Tinder in some fashion. It started with the app for gay men, Grinder, then evolved into the app for everyone, Tinder, but there is still an important demographic that didn't get its own dating app that stands out above the rest. So let's talk about Dattch, the dating app for lesbians and bisexual women.

Dattch is a little different than the other apps, in that it takes some influence from another popular social media idea, Pinterest, in a way.

According to The Guardian:

Dattch allows users to create a kind of personality mood board, making profiles much more revealing. [App developer Robyn] Exton compares it to looking at someone's Instagram feed: "You get a sense of who they are really quickly." The second upshot of an image-heavy profile is that it does away with self-deprecation. Exton believes a lot of women habitually focus on what they perceive to be their worst traits in order to "manage expectations".

Daatch is still just getting off the ground, but it looks like it can be the next big thing in its genre.

"Dattch is not another free lesbian dating app," the official website boasts. "Women aren't the same as men. We look at things differently and we talk about different things. Problem is, no one seems to have acknowledged this before. We did."
