'New Girl' star Jake Johnson cast in 'Jurassic World'
Jurassic World just gained one of TV's most beloved current actors in the form of New Girls star Jake Johnson. It turns out the actor's relationship with director Colin Trevorrow was a great influence in his taking the job, though Johnson explained he would've have taken the gig with any director.
"Absolutely. Now, I'm also a huge fan of Jurassic Park," Johnson told The Huffington Post when asked if Trevorrow was the reason he took the role. "When I was growing up and Jurassic Park came out, I freaked out like every other kid. I was born in '78, so I was, like, 12. If it wasn't Colin and someone said they wanted me in Jurassic Park, I would jump on it. The fact that it's Colin, written by Derek Connolly (who wrote Safety Not Guaranteed) and both those guys are personal friends, I'd go through a wall."
We're excited to see how Johnson will be used in this upcoming sequel to the popular franchise. It's likely that he will serve as some sort of comic relief, but we won't know for sure until more details are released in the coming months.
Do you have any thoughts on Jake Johnson's character in the upcoming film?
Johnson joins the growing cast, which currently includes Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, BD Wong (reprising the role of Dr. Henry Wu from the original film), Vincent D'Onofrio, Irrfan Khan, Ty Simpkins, Nick Robinson, and Omar Sy. Jurassic World is scheduled for release on June 12, 2015.
