'Batman: Arkham Knight' features original new character not from DC Universe [PHOTOS]

Earlier this month, the newest title in the Batman Arkham series of video games was announced, officially ending the series with Batman: Arkham Knight. This week a special demo of the new game was presented to those in the press, ending with one of the biggest updates for the final chapter of this franchise. The developers at Rocksteady have introduced a totally original character into Batman: Arkham Knight that is not in the DC Universe.

"The promise of being the Batman is always what we've been all about," the presenter said this week towards the end of the Arkham Knight demo. "The power fantasy of being the Dark Knight. In his city. Being in complete control. So, having said that, Batman should be able to walk out of that door and walk into the streets of the city that he protects without a worry in the world."

In the demo, Batman walks out into the street and is shot by a mysterious character.

"There are only two things I can say about the character you just saw," the presenter said the end of the demo. "Number one: his name is the Arkham Knight. Number two: he is a completely original character that we have designed at Rocksteady in collaboration with DC Comics. That's it."
