The legendary guitarist Jimi Hendrix biopic titled All Is By My Side is being filmed in Ireland. Andre 3000 as Hendrix in the movie will cover The Beatles, Muddy Waters, and more on the soundtrack but not a single song by Hendrix.

According to Rolling Stone, Experience Hendrix LLC, which manages the Hendrix estate made a statement regarding the project that it "has made it known many times in the past that no such film, were it to include original music or copyrights created by Jimi Hendrix, can be undertaken without its full participation."

Sean McKittrick, the producer explained that the focuses on Hendrix before he rose to fame, therefore they never approached the Hendrix estate.

"This is the story of Jimi being discovered as a backup musician and how he went to London and became Jimi Hendrix," McKittrick said.

"They want to make a Jimi Hendrix movie without Jimi Hendrix music," a spokesperson of Experience Hendrix told Rolling Stone. "It would be like making a movie about Lincoln without being able to use the Gettysburg Address."

"They're absolutely in the right as long as they got the licenses for those songs," Conrad Rippy, a lawyer who represents the estates of Elliott Smith and Jeff Buckley said.

The film will still feature Andre 3000 singing "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band," "Wild Thing," "Hound Dog," Muddy Waters' "Mannish Boy" and Elmore James' "Bleeding Heart," "Future Trip" and "Driving South," that Hendrix played as a backup musician for Curtis Knight and the Squires.

"Andre has been Jimi for four months now. He speaks and walks like Jimi. He dropped a ton of weight. The transformation has been amazing," the producer added.

All Is By My Side is expected to release in 2013.
